Tell Me Again

Weekly phone calls, in their voice, in a book

We call your mum, dad, gran or grandad. They tell their stories. You get the book.

Tell Me Again phones your mum, dad or grandparent once a week, asks the questions you always meant to ask, and turns every call into a chapter you can read and hear. Their words. Their voice. Kept.

  1. Calling Margaret, Tuesday 10:00
  2. Last week you mentioned the radio your dad brought home. What was that evening like?

  3. Well. It was 1949, and I swear the whole street came round to look at it.

Four steps.
One of them is yours.

You spend five minutes once. Your dad spends twenty minutes a week on the phone, which he would have done anyway. The rest is ours.

  1. 1You, once

    Tell us about them

A name, a number and a few stories worth asking about. Five minutes.

  2. 2Us, every week

    We ring for a chat

Twenty unhurried minutes on one part of their life. We remember last week.

  3. 3Us, an hour later

    A chapter arrives

In their own words, with the recording beside it, ready to share.

  4. 4Us, when you're ready

    Then the book

A hardcover with their photos. Scan any story to hear them tell it.

What a chapter reads like

Every call becomes a short chapter written from the recording. First person, their phrasing kept, nothing added. The recording sits beside it, so you read it and then you hear them tell it.

Chapter 4

The winter the radio came

I was seven the winter Dad brought the radio home. It was 1949 and he carried it up the street under his coat like it might catch cold. Mam said we couldn't afford it, and he said that was true, and then he plugged it in anyway.

I swear the whole street came round that first night. Mrs Doyle from number twelve brought her own chair. We sat in the dark with the little green light on, and nobody said a word for a whole hour. I had never seen grown-ups so quiet. I thought the voices lived inside the box, and for a while I used to say goodnight to them.

Our Eileen cried when the music came on. She was only four. She thought the man singing was in the room, and she wanted to know where he was sitting.

How every call starts0:00 / 0:00

Word for word how our calls open. Margaret is an AI voice for this sample.

  • He only has to pick up

No app, no login. A landline is fine.

  • We say who we are

Every call opens with who is calling, then asks if now is good.

  • He sets the pace

Long pauses are fine. He can change the subject or stop.

  • A heads-up first

A text to you both half an hour before, so the kettle is on.

A book you can hear

When there are enough chapters, we lay them out as a full-colour hardcover with their photos. Beside every chapter there is a small code. Point a phone at it and the recording plays: their voice, telling that story, with the kettle going in the background.

The grandchildren will read it. Their children will hear it.

  • Full colour, up to 200 pages
  • Their photos, your captions
  • Free shipping in the US
  • Extra copies for the family
  • A proof to approve before printing
  • Reprint later with new chapters

Point your phone at the code to hear Margaret tell this one.

Try scanning it

That code works. It opens the sample chapter from the Tell Me Again family page.

The whole family gets to ask

Everyone you invite gets a private page with the chapters and recordings as they arrive. Anyone can leave a question. It gets asked on the next call, with their name on it.

The kids end up asking the things you would never have thought to.

  • What was the farm in Kilkenny actually like? Did you have to work on it?

    TTom, grandson

  • How did you and Dad decide to move to Manchester?

    SSarah, daughter

  • Did you have a dog?

    EElla, great-granddaughter, 9

  • Tell the one about the bus to Blackpool. Properly this time.

    MMichael, son

Their stories stay in the family

No cloning, no training

We never clone their voice and never train anything on their stories. The recordings are theirs and yours.

Take everything, any time

Every recording, transcript and chapter can be downloaded whenever you like. If you ever stop, the page stays readable.

Only when they say yes

Every call starts with who is calling and why. The recording only begins when they agree, and they can end it with a word.

Questions families ask us

Does my mum or dad need a smartphone or the internet?
No. Any phone works, including a landline. They pick up, say hello, and talk. There is nothing to install and no password to remember. You do the setup on your side, in a few minutes.
Who is actually calling them?
A voice assistant we have built for exactly this. It says so plainly at the start of every call, asks if now is still a good time, and asks before recording. It listens, asks follow-up questions, and remembers what they said last week. If they would rather stop, they just say so.
What if they don't pick up?
We try again a little later, and you both get a text beforehand so the call is expected. Missed calls never use up their hours.
Is the writing really in their words?
The chapter is written from the recording, in the first person, using their phrasing. Names, places and dates are copied as they said them. You can switch any chapter between a polished read, a lighter touch, or the plain transcript, and edit anything.
Can the rest of the family join in?
Yes. Everyone you invite gets a private page with the chapters and recordings. Anyone can leave a question, and it gets asked on the next call, with their name: "Your grandson Tom wants to know about the farm."
Do you clone their voice or train anything on their stories?
No, and we never will. The recordings are theirs. We do not clone voices, we do not sell or share anything, and you can download every recording, transcript and chapter whenever you like.
What happens if they pass away during the year?
Tell us and every call and email stops the same day. The page, the recordings and the chapters stay with the family for as long as you want them.
Can I get my money back?
Yes, within 30 days, as long as a book has not been printed. If the calls do not work for them, for any reason, write to us and we will sort it out.

Their stories are waiting.
So is the kettle.

Set it up tonight. The first call is a five-minute hello, whenever suits them.
